Saving Acres

By Josh Cole-Hossain on 16/12/20 11:57

Whilst this turbulent year has been costly, to many people, businesses and organisations, its has also allowed them to take a step back and realise what is most important to them and society - that more needs to be done to protect our world and its natural environments.

As we noted from the recent ICSA ‘Governance Beyond the Pandemic’ conferenceEnvironmental, Social and Corporate Governance (ESG) will be a top priority for many boards, when normality returns, and even before so.

At Convene, we are not only interested in our own ESG goals but aim to enable our customers to achieve theirs - after all, this fight is for all of us. That is why we emphasise both good governance of Boards and the need to be environmentally conscious!

With this in mind, we decided to purchase three acres of land with the World Land Trust which will be kept to preserve wildlife and help save the planet - on behalf of all our customers, to thank them for using our Board portal to meet remotely throughout the year.

Habitat loss is the greatest threat facing wildlife worldwide. We believe that by protecting land, acre by acre, we are taking the best action to ensure a future for wildlife. For every donation to the Buy an Acre programme, one of their overseas partners will be able to purchase one acre of habitat and protect it in perpetuity for wildlife.

They are currently supporting WLT partner Fundacion Biodiversidad Argentina (FBA) to create the Chaco Tagua Biological Corridor to protect Dry Chaco habitat within Cordoba Province where less than 5% of native forests remain. This corridor will connect two protected areas, extending the habitat for species of the area including globally endangered Chaco Peccary, 229 species of birds, 35 mammal species and 43 species of amphibians and reptiles.
