A few weeks ago, our morning started with us complaining about the weather as we made our cups of coffee in our office kitchenette. We settled into our morning routine. Some on calls with clients, some demonstrating our product and me typing away at my keyboard.
*Pling!*
I looked down at my phone. The message in our group chat read: “60,800!”
*Pling!*
“Lottery?”, someone asked.
“Papers saved from ONE meeting!”
And then our group chat exploded with emojis.
At Convene, we are not ‘eco-warriors’. We believe that our solution makes sense in today’s digital world, is cost-effective, and has this lovely side effect of being eco-friendly. Going ‘green’ or simply having digital meetings and not printing out stacks of paper, has saved our clients money. A local government council saved £2,500 the first year they implemented Convene.
After the revelation of the 60,800 pages saved for a single meeting, we decided that it was time to start giving back to the environment.
We decided to work with World Land Trust as they protect and sustainably manage natural ecosystems around the world by working with local authorities and people.
We started by protecting one acre of rainforests, or the amount of trees that were saved by our customers using our digital meeting solution from April 2016.
As we build our initiative, we plan on planting 5 trees for every 5 trees our customers save by not printing meeting documents and packs.
